John,
Huge news: Vice President Kamala Harris has selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. And we’re proud to endorse him.
As someone who has spoken publicly about receiving Social Security survivor benefits as a child, Governor Walz understands first-hand the invaluable importance of Social Security.
As the Governor said, in response to those who say Americans should pull themselves up by their boot straps, Social Security was his family’s boots. Other than Social Security, his family had no boots whose straps they could use to pull themselves up.
In this whirlwind campaign, VP Harris and Gov. Walz will need every one of us pitching in to make sure our communities know: A vote for Harris-Walz is a vote for Social Security! Our senior councils are already hard at work. Rush a donation today!
The Harris-Walz administration will fight hard to protect and expand Social Security, as highlighted in the excellent pro-senior policies laid out in the 2024 Democratic Party Platform. They will also fight to expand Medicare and continue to lower drug prices. While President Biden and Vice President Harris have led the most pro-senior administration in over half a century, Vice President Harris and Governor Walz will be even better.
Truly, is there a better picture of intergenerational solidarity than this, taken when Gov. Walz signed a bill providing lunch for every child in school?
The choice in November couldn’t be clearer. Vice President Harris has always fought to protect and expand our Social Security benefits. We know Governor Walz will do the same. Donald Trump, despite his rhetoric to the contrary, is on record advocating cuts to our earned benefits.
Donald Trump is making a serious push for the senior vote. He’s lying–and we’ve got receipts. The Harris-Walz ticket IS the best way forward for older Americans. Rush a donation to help get out the message!
Americans who want to make sure that they receive every penny of their earned benefits, including a well-deserved raise in this essential deferred compensation — by requiring the wealthiest to pay their fair share — must vote Democratic. Those who are okay with seeing their earned benefits cut, and tax handouts given to billionaires, should know that is what Trump and his Republican allies are planning.
Thank you,
Nancy Altman Social Security Works
