As Governor, he signed the Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act into law, protecting the right to abortion under state law, making Minnesota the first state since the fall of Roe to enact new statutory protections for abortion through the legislature. He also enacted a law that requires private health insurance coverage of abortion and abortion-related services, and codified Medicaid coverage of abortion and abortion-related services.
