Friends,
The last time I wrote to you, it was to check in and see how you were doing -- and to thank you for everything you’ve done for your families and communities. Now I want to give you an update on the targets we’re hitting on the ground and the steps we’re taking to move us all further toward the next phase -- stronger and more unified than ever before.
So far, we’ve been part of the effort to push the CDC and the Trump administration to offer information on the virus in different languages so that all communities can access vital resources and be on the same page about ongoing relief and recovery efforts.
I’ve fought for the almost 200,000 taxpaying, undocumented New Yorkers who deserve relief funds just as much as anyone -- because immigrant families are vital to this country and to any rebuilding effort.
And we’ve helped secure relief for our neighborhood: after I spoke up for our most vulnerable Americans and called on the president to act, Donald Trump has now announced he’ll invoke the Defense Production Act to bolster swab production by at least 20 million per month for the widespread testing we know is the next step toward coming out of this crisis.
Just as important as the work we have done thus far is the work ahead of us, and this includes electing a diverse Congress to represent all of us. Electing someone like Dr. Pritesh Gandhi in TX-10 -- a doctor who is working tirelessly in his clinic to treat COVID-19 patients. We know that a Congress that truly represents the people will be more effective in fighting for constituents across the country.
Thank you for your help in this fight. I know I can count on your continued support in making even more progress toward a stronger community. Now let’s all get back to it.
Grace
