"As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him."
- Psalm 103:13
Africa & Europe
-
As we have seen in several of the countries where IJM teams combat violence against women and children, instances of domestic violence have gone up as lockdown measures trap women in homes with abusers. This is true across both Africa and Europe, where the virus has caused many nations to enact strict lockdown procedures. Pray for the women who are suffering in their homes, for an end to domestic violence deaths and for law enforcement to be equipped to receive and respond to reports.
Latin America
-
Pray for our team in the Dominican Republic as they care for survivors of sex trafficking amid strict quarantine measures set by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Due to the crisis, many child survivors of exploitation are more vulnerable to being revictimized, especially the ones living in remote and vulnerable communities. Our team will distribute much-needed basic supplies for them. Pray for God's constant protection over our staff, these survivors and their families.
South Asia
-
Pray for the ongoing work of IJM and our partners to monitor and care for migrant workers stranded away from home due to the COVID-19 lockdowns. Many of these migrants have no resources to sustain themselves and may be at a higher risk now for exploitation. It can be quite dangerous and heartbreaking to see. Pray for all of the complicated logistics and relational capital it takes to coordinate support for these laborers from local governments.
Southeast Asia
-
Praise God for our partners at a Catholic foundation in Thailand that helped arrange delivery of basic necessities to migrant households in Phuket province. This partner organization has been very proactive in taking care of migrant workers in this difficult situation, educating them about protective measures against the virus and ensuring they have access to medical care. Pray for safety in these vulnerable populations, and for our partners to continue to be able to be a support system for them.
IJM HQ & Global Partners
IJM headquarters is located in the United States. IJM has
international advancement offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, the
Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
-
Pray for our business intelligence infrastructure — that we can set it up well to equip our global teams to make wise and insightful decisions based off of data. All of our offices desire to make the most impact for our clients and steward the resources that we've been trusted with well, and incorporating the right data when setting strategy is an essential part of that. Pray that we can put the proper infrastructure in place everywhere, so that leaders have the analysis and clarity they need to make critical decisions.
