GET YOUR BALLOT IN!

TOMORROW (TUESDAY 8/6) IS PRIMARY DAY TO ELECT SHAUN SCOTT

Washington’s primary is coming up TOMORROW (Tuesday 8/6). The stakes could not be higher - the establishment has thrown its full support behind Shaun’s opponents Andrea Suarez and Daniel Carusello. We know that we can win, but we’ll have to outflank Suarez and Carusello on the ground. Canvass with us in this crucial final three day stretch to fight for the working class and show the establishment that the 43rd LD deserves a socialist in office!

Tell Seattle City Council to Pass I-137 Now!

The City Council could be voting on whether to put I-137 on the November ballot or attempt to push it to February in order to delay action, suppress voter turnout, and place big business’s competing initiative on the ballot.

Join us on Tuesday, August 6th, at City Hall to tell the Seattle City Council to pass I-137 and support social housing now. Send an email to Council Members here.

Seattle’s Minimum Wage Is Under Attack

Ten years after 15Now with a grassroots movement of unions, socialists and working people won the first $15 an hour minimum wage in a major city, the Seattle City Council has indicated they are open to permanently ending the sunset clause for tipped workers for businesses with less than 500 employees. The ten-year phase-in period for these businesses ends soon (2025), and workers are set to receive at least a $3 pay raise. Hollingsworth has pulled her bill targeting minimum wage, but the Mayor is taking it up. Seattle Restaurant Alliance is still lobbying hard, and Harrell can introduce legislation to the Council.

The fight is far from over.

Join us at Seattle City Council's August 6th meeting to let them know we do NOT support going back on the minimum wage deal
we made ten years ago.

RSVP here for more info on how to testify in person or virtually.

Step up for Seattle DSA!

The SDSA Member Engagement Committee is looking for chapter members to fill several pressing roles in our chapter.

Our Palestinian Solidarity Working Group has launched a new BDS campaign to get working people and businesses to commit to not consuming or carrying Israeli products – the campaign seeks chapter members to help with tabling shifts, campaign research, and data entry.

In addition, the SDSA Communications and Tech Committees are looking for chapter members to assist with our chapter’s social media and internal communications as well as to help maintain and update our website.

Interested chapter members should fill out this form to get involved with these chapter priorities or to get involved with chapter work generally. A member of MEC will contact you after submittal.
