Tomorrow is the day we’ve been preparing for, John: it’s the Democratic primary election in Missouri’s 1st congressional district.
Progressive champion Rep. Cori Bush has faced brutal attacks and more than $13.5 million in spending against her in what is now the second-most expensive House primary in U.S. history.
AIPAC is trying to buy yet another seat in Congress by bankrolling Cori’s opponent with millions of dollars from right-wing millionaires and billionaires. They did the same thing to fellow Squad member Jamaal Bowman earlier this summer — we can’t let them succeed this time.
Cori’s challenger is a lying, phony Democrat who promised Cori he wouldn’t run against her — that is until AIPAC offered him a deal he apparently couldn’t refuse. Their super PAC has dropped more than $8 million in support of the prosecutor, who broke promises and failed to deliver progressive change for St. Louis communities.
The crypto and tech-billionaire-backed super PAC Fairshake has also gotten behind Bell, thinking they can push another Squad member out and replace her with someone who will fight for their best interests instead of the people’s.
Tomorrow’s primary election is our progressive movement’s biggest challenge yet, and our biggest opportunity to show that St. Louis and our democracy are NOT for sale.
We can’t leave anything on the table.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
