John,
At a recent Artificial Intelligence conference here in DC, we learned that top defense companies and technological giants are working on some disturbing projects.
Lockheed Martin shared its future framework for a factory operated entirely by artificial intelligence — and showed how it can translate to all industries — including call centers and vehicle and weapons manufacturing plants.
Conference attendees took the opportunity to ask Google executives their burning questions, including “are we close to having Google-fired missiles?”
We need to be on high alert. Allowing defense contractors and weapons manufacturers to use artificial intelligence could turbocharge our global arms race and exacerbate existing conflicts — leading to weapons capable of mass destruction.
Please, join us and send a message to President Biden: No artificial intelligence in weapons systems!
Microsoft has pitched OpenAI's DALL-E artificial intelligence tool to the U.S. Pentagon. Top Silicon Valley executives are pouring millions into weapons manufacturing companies. Weapons contractors and AI companies are working together to develop fully autonomous weapons that can select and engage targets without any human control.
Today, we’re coming together to demand an unequivocal prohibition on autonomous weapons, as well as strict regulations and hefty penalties for any company or individual violating the ban. The U.S. government must take action now and set an example for other nations to follow.
We must call on President Biden to ban artificial intelligence from U.S. weapons systems and manufacturing.
Thank you for taking action with us.
