Project 2025: “Dictator for a Day” is “Dictator For Life”

Dear Defender of our American Democracy:

We are SO glad that you have joined our coalition to defend and preserve our freedoms in this historic and pivotal election of 2024.

Why is this election historic and pivotal? Not just because of the oldest candidate ever, but for the first time, a candidate has a plan to transform our democracy into an autocracy — Project 2025. The campaign theme is “I alone can fix it.” and “I am your warrior. I am your justice … I am your retribution.” These are words of an authoritarian — and he means them.

Project 2025 is too extreme — Own it. Atlantic Magazine just published this article by Adam Serwer: Why Trump Can't Banish the Weirdos ([link removed]) . Trump and his campaign are lying and deflecting about their involvement. But the chickens are out of the coop — and they are squawking.

We dismiss it at our peril. It sounds unbelievable - that we would become a MAGAutocracy and rights and freedoms that protect us from government overreach would be obliterated. Think it can’t be done? SCOTUS answered that question by overturning Roe — stripping the right to privacy and hinting at more to come. Weird or Terrifying or both?

It’s a “do-over.” Trump’s first administration was a mixed bag of experienced professionals (many of whom were fired or quit) and extremist-loyalists. A second Trump administration would be staffed with 100% extremist-loyalists. Under Project 2025, 50,000 civil servants deemed politically disloyal will be fired on Day 1 (they are already compiling the list). Weird or Terrifying or both?

Health and Safety: Under political control. Under Project 2025, the White House would control all 56 independent agencies including CIA, FEC, The Fed, NLRB, EEOC, etc. Under Project 2025, the President would have made all COVID-related decisions - not medical experts. The same would be true for other health and safety agencies (EPA, FAA, NTSB, etc.). LIkewise, NOAA would be dissolved because it acknowledged scientific changes in climate. Weird, terrifying or both?

Federal Law Enforcement: Under political control. The FBI Director and Attorney General would report directly to the President and would investigate and prosecute the President’s enemies and decline to investigate and prosecute his friends. Much of the FBI and DOJ would be dismantled and funds diverted to mass deportation. Weird or terrifying or both?

TAKING ACTION: Knowing the weirdness or the terrifying nature of the plan to destroy American Democracy is important. But without ACTION to help get every pro-democracy voter registered, prepared, and to the ballot box (in whatever form that may take) — we will be living Project 2025.
