Dear Bold community,

We have some heartbreaking news to share. We recently lost Justin Kemerling, our designer, our friend, our heart.

Contributions may be made to the Justin Kemerling Memorial Fund to honor his memory and to support causes close to his heart, as well as provide much-needed support for his family during this difficult time.

On August 26, please join us at the Slowdown venue in downtown Omaha to celebrate Justin's impact on our lives.

I started working with Justin Kemerling in 2009. I saw some of his design work on Facebook. We messaged back and forth and we instantly got each other. Justin and I were idea partners. I would text or email him an idea and in the following days he would breathe life into simple words from the message I sent to him.

Justin breathed life into our movements…our movement to get affordable insurance with Obamacare. Our movement to create an organization, Bold Nebraska, that would do our best to bridge urban and rural communities and be cool doing it. Our movement to stop the Keystone XL pipeline. A concert in a cornfield. An unlikely alliance. Reject and Protect. Our newest effort to build more clean energy with the people who live in our amazing rural towns.

All of these and more were designed by Justin. Every project I have done in our state since I moved here, I did with Justin. Justin even did our kids' birth announcements. Everything in my office.

All of my memories of being in the streets or a corn field taking action to make people’s lives better had a visual life and heart because of Justin.

Join us for a celebration of Justin’s life on August 26, at the Slowdown in Omaha (729 N 14 St.) We will start at 4:30 pm and Katie, Justin's wife, says we will go as late as we go, celebrating his memory, his life, his favorite music, his art and his design…

Wear your Stand with Randy, Pipeline Fighter, Harvest the Hope, Dirt Road Dems t-shirt…wear one of the hundreds of buttons Justin designed over the last 15 years.

Let us forever honor Justin.
