A new study has revealed the devastating impact of removing gray wolves from the Western United States: It completely devastated the existing ecosystem by spiking elk populations and forever damaging plant communities through overgrazing.

Now, Republicans in Congress want to delist our iconic gray wolves from federal protection, which threatens to put them back at risk of extinction.

But we have already seen the terrible consequences when they lose these protections. When Donald Trump delisted gray wolves during his Administration, hunters in Wisconsin killed 218 wolves in the first three days - 100 animals over the limit - and eliminated nearly 20% of the state’s wolf population.

Thankfully, the Biden/Harris Administration stepped in just in time to restore protections for these animals, but now Republicans in Congress are trying to return us back to the Trump era and put our gray wolves back in threat of extinction.
