Grizzly bear relocated in northwest Wyoming

Grizzly bear, relocation

CODY — After consultation with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department captured and relocated a subadult male grizzly bear on July 31, 2024. The bear was captured and relocated preemptively because it frequented developed areas on private lands in the Wilson, Wyoming area. In cooperation with the USFWS and the Shoshone National Forest, the grizzly bear was relocated to the Camp Creek drainage approximately 30 miles northwest of Cody.

REMINDER: Game and Fish seeks input on the proposed identification of the Upper Wind River Mule Deer Migration Corridor

Upper Wind River MC

DUBOIS — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking Game and Fish Commission approval to identify the Upper Wind River mule deer migration corridor and is gathering public comment. The deadline to submit comments is 5 p.m. Aug. 9.

Fire safety a must this time of year

CHEYENNE — It has been a dry and hot summer across most of Wyoming. As temperatures rise, vegetation begins to dry, creating fuels that can create high fire dangers. To help protect wildlife habitat and other public lands, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department implements fire restrictions on department-managed properties where people camp and recreate.
