Like so many Americans, I've been glued to my phone catching as many updates as I can from the Olympics.

There's something about watching Katie Ledecky tie the record for most gold medals by a U.S. woman… Simone Biles's triumphant return… Or watching Virginians like Noah Lyles dominate the track and Torri Huske bringing home the gold… I can't help but be so incredibly proud to be an American.

These athletes are proof of the bright future of our country. But Donald Trump is trying to darken that future with his hate, lies, and lawlessness. The thing is, I know we can be just as proud of our country in November as we are right now if we elect leaders like Kamala Harris who are the embodiment of the best of us.

One of my favorite things about the Olympics is the reminder of what we can achieve together. These incredible athletes don't get there by themselves. They rely on coaches, trainers, family, and friends to support them as they compete with the best from all over the world.
