CHAPTER HIGHLIGHTS
OCA - Cleveland Chapter
The OCA Greater Cleveland chapter had over 10 people attend the convention in Philadelphia. The chapter won 3rd place for Project of the Year for the Cleveland Asian Festival. During the APIAVote Presidential Town Hall, OCA - Greater Cleveland partnered with MotivAsians For Cleveland and AsiaTown Cleveland to host a local watch party at Li Wah Restaurant to ensure the messaging reached our local community. This news was also featured on the Erie Chinese Journal, a local Chinese newspaper. Click here to read more.
OCA - Greater Tucson Chapter
OCA - Greater Tucson chapter won an Emerging Chapter of the Year award which is wonderful recognition of their Board and members for all their time. They also won a Presidents Circle Initiative grant for the “Empowerment, NHPIs & Well-Being” project. GOTV with new NHPI partners, supporting NHPI cultural education, and expanding mental health programming are key components. They are thrilled to be able to implement this program! Photo is the moment of the Emerging Chapter awards announcement: one stunned; the other congratulatory.
OCA - San Mateo Chapter
OCA - San Mateo Chapter organized a free film screening attended by over 150 people on July 21, Sunday at 2-4:30pm at the San Mateo Library. "Lingering Dream of Homeland" is a Cantonese film by Li Weinian who wanted to bring the beauty of Toisan onto the big screen.

A drama that takes place during the 1920s-30s, the movie is a real tear jerker about a multigenerational family and touches on the themes of family separation, immigration, and cultural preservation. Many people in the audience came away with a better understanding of life in the village for the women, children, and elders who were left behind while the sojourner men went abroad to the Gold Mountain seeking their fortune.

A musical performance on the Erhu by Daike Chao enhanced the cultural experience. The post-film discussion was deeply emotional as the audience shared stories of their own memories of the village and their immigration experiences.
OCA - St. Louis Chapter
OCA St. Louis Chapter’s annual gala this year featured an Asian night market theme, bringing connection, fun, and community to a special night.

We were extremely honored to have Michelle K. Hanabusa, Founder & Creative Director of L.A. streetwear brand UPRISERS and co-founder of #HateIsAVirus, join us as the keynote speaker. Michelle inspired us with her lasting message of advocacy and celebration for the Asian American community, as well as emphasizing unity across immigrant communities as a whole.

Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, OCA members, and OCA Board. We could not have done this without each one of you, and we are so grateful for your support!
