More than one million early and absentee votes cast in Primary Election so far

"Polling places are open statewide tomorrow on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m."

*LANSING, Mich. ? *With less than 24 hours before polls open on Election Day, more than one million Michigan voters have already cast their ballot in the Primary Election. Over 73,500 voted at an in-person early voting site, and more than 970,000 voters have submitted an absentee ballot to be tabulated.??

?

?More than one million Michiganders have already cast their vote before the polls open on Election Day,? *Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said*. ?We?ve heard from many voters who appreciate having convenient early options to participate in our elections and it?s great to see people engaged in the process. As always, I?m grateful to Michigan?s clerks and poll workers, who ensured a secure and smooth early voting process throughout the state.? ?

?

At the close of the nine-day early voting period Sunday, Aug. 4., a total of 73,531 voters had cast a ballot at an early voting site. The highest turnout day was Friday, Aug. 2, with 11,085 ballots cast. 2024 is the first election year with a constitutionally required minimum of nine days of early in-person voting under Proposal 2, passed by Michigan?s voters in 2022.?

?

A total of 970,041 Michigan voters have completed their absentee ballot and submitted it to their clerk for tabulation. 1,638,830 voters have requested an absentee ballot for the primary. A breakdown of absentee ballot requests and returns by jurisdiction is available online. [ [link removed] ]
