Of all of the things I have done as Governor of California, the one thing I wasn't prepared for at the start was San Quentin.
But since then, we have taken the steps to transform San Quentin — the state’s most notorious prison with a dark past — into the nation’s most innovative rehabilitation facility focused on building a brighter and safer future.
Last week, I went inside Quentin — behind the scenes and behind the walls — with my friends Marshawn "Beast Mode" Lynch and Doug Hendrickson as part of our Politickin' Podcast.
Please use this link to listen to (or save for later) a very real and raw discussion with the prison's warden, guards, and inmates — including one I played Little League baseball with — about life behind the walls of San Quentin.

I am very proud of the work we've done to transform San Quentin and I think you'll get a lot from this episode of the podcast.
You don't have to listen immediately, but I hope you will visit this link and if you can't listen now, save it for later.
Thank you very much for your continued support,
Gavin Newsom
