Right now you can’t scroll social media without seeing a news article or a hot take about Michigan’s role in the upcoming election. I have to say, as a Michigander, it’s flattering!

But almost *all* of those stories are surrounding the presidential election. That’s obviously for good reason — we must, and will, win at the top of the ticket.

And there are a LOT of other important elections happening in Michigan this year that are crucial to protecting our democracy, including for the state supreme court.

Michigan’s Republican candidates for state supreme court include three election deniers: one who attended a “Stop the Steal” rally at the state capitol on January 6, 2021; another who filed a lawsuit attempting to invalidate absentee ballots from Detroit; and another who’s facing four criminal felony charges for tampering with voting equipment.

We’ve got to keep them off the bench, and we’re supporting two outstanding Democracy Defenders for the Michigan state supreme court: Justice Kyra Harris Bolden and Kimberly Ann Thomas.

Can we count on you to make a donation to the NDRC right away to help elect Democracy Defenders in Michigan and across the country?

One thing we want to remind you of — especially as we see historic fundraising numbers pour in this week — is that races for state-level office often get overlooked and under-resourced.

The risk of that happening this year has never been higher. And it’s frightening to imagine the kind of damage election deniers like the Michigan candidates could cause on their state’s highest court.

But that’s where you can come in and make sure that doesn’t happen.

A $20 donation to help support Democracy Defenders will go a lot further than what you might think. It can mean all the difference in races sometimes decided by a handful of votes.

So please, rush a donation today to help score victories for democracy up and down the ballot in November and beyond!

Thank you,
— Brianna
