Dear John,

I’m Madelene Bernard, and it’s a pleasure to e-meet you. I’m on an exciting journey to connect with some brilliant refugees who are innovating solutions to address the climate crisis. Over the upcoming weeks, I will interview four individuals and open the floor for you to ask questions to these inspiring young leaders. At the end of the journey, I’ll summarize everything so you can hear their answers directly. Ready to join me in this adventure?

🌱Where it started:

In the past two years, I've worked on advocacy campaigns at UNHCR, and this has given me an incredible opportunity to listen to refugees share their experiences of fleeing war and violence, and the challenging process of rebuilding their lives. Lately, some of them are telling stories of climate change disrupting their lives yet again. But from these challenges arise stories of resilience and persistent action.

Every time I hear these stories, I'm left speechless in a way I can't fully describe. It's a whirlwind of feelings ranging from disbelief, deep respect and a reinforcement of the strength of the human spirit. At the end of these conversations, I find myself ready to act, filled with a hope that makes me believe that together, we can find real and lasting solutions to the climate crisis.

🌍Where we go next:

Through this series of interviews, I want to bring some of these powerful voices to you. I'm passing the mic on to these extraordinary individuals, and I hope that through their stories, we will all be moved to see the world from a different perspective and perhaps inspired to act ourselves.

Stay tuned!

Warm regards,

Madelene Bernard
