Dear Friend,
Your support has been incredible in fighting back against this misleading and dangerous recall effort. This week, our campaign filed our big fundraising report. I'm incredibly proud that we raised an astonishing $193,000 from more than 1,400 contributions!
Ninety percent of those were from DC residents, and an overwhelming majority were from Ward 6 neighbors. That stands in stark contrast to the recall organizers, who the Washington Post and Washington City Paper reported are funded largely by outside and right-wing sources. And while the recall campaign remains under formal investigation by the Office of Campaign Finance for breaking campaign finance laws, our effort continues to grow in strength and momentum. So thank you to everyone who’s chipped in and fought back - I really appreciate it!
So what's next? Their big deadline is August 12th - just one week from now . That's the date the recall campaign has to turn in signatures if they want to get a recall measure on a costly and misguided special election ballot. They're getting desperate and running out of time, but we're prepared for any scenario. We have volunteers ready to go to make sure all their signatures are valid if they turn them in. We've heard so many stories of misleading efforts by signature collectors, so we need to be prepared to make sure the law was followed. I've also been contacted by people who said they'd signed the petition when some of the out-of-town, paid canvassers for the recall lied to them about what the petition was for, and they want to remove their names. Others have said they don't want their name to be publicly linked to an effort spreading so much misinformation and now under investigation. Good news: if you did sign it, you can unsign it! We've helped people do this already. If you know of anyone who wants to get their name removed from the petition before their name gets filed publicly or thinks they signed it by accident or under false pretenses, please email

Thanks again for all your support. I'm proud of what we've done in Ward 6, and I’ll continue leading for our community and our city.
Charles Allen
P.S. - We've still got a few yard signs if you'd like to show your support. Just reply to this email or sign-up here [[link removed]] and we'll drop one off at your house.
