Plea Deal for September 11 Terrorists Withdrawn

Daily Wire: The Biden-Harris Administration canceled a stunning plea deal that was signed this week with the terrorists who were responsible for the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States — and relieved the senior U.S. official who offered the deal. Retired Brig. Gen. Susan K. Escallier, who was responsible for overseeing the war court case at Guantánamo Bay, was relieved from her position by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin after her team entered into pretrial agreements with 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak Bin ‘Attash, and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al Hawsawi. The deal allowed the terrorists to escape the death penalty in-exchange for them pleading guilty to the murder of 2,976 people and serving sentences of at most life in prison (Daily Wire). CBS: In nullifying the plea agreement, Austin wrote in the order that “in light of the significance of the decision,” he had decided that the authority to make a decision on accepting the plea agreements was his. Mohammed and the other defendants had been expected to formally enter their pleas under the deal as soon as next week. The U.S. military commission overseeing the cases of five defendants in the Sept. 11 attacks have been stuck in pre-trial hearings and other preliminary court action since 2008 (CBS).

U.S. Mistake Sends $239 Million to the Taliban
Townhall: A new report from Judicial Watch found that the U.S. mistakenly gave hundreds of millions of dollars to the Taliban after the State Department failed to properly vet award recipients. At least $239 million in taxpayer money has landed in the hands of terrorists since the Biden Administration’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. The State Department appears not to have followed its own counterterrorism partner vetting requirements in Afghanistan before approving the 29 grants to several local entities (Townhall). Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene: Under Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s administration, they mistakenly gave $239 million of your hard earned tax payer dollars to the TALIBAN. We are $35 TRILLION in debt and this failed administration is so incompetent that they are throwing money at our enemies on accident (X).

Iran Vows to Retaliate Against Israel Even if it Sparks a War
Wall Street Journal: Iran rejected U.S. and Arab efforts to temper its response to the killing in Tehran of Hamas’s top political leader, as authorities were investigating the security breaches that led to the attack. Iranian prosecutors said Saturday that they had opened a formal investigation into the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, which came hours after an Israeli strike killed a senior Hezbollah commander in Beirut. The two attacks, following a rocket strike on a soccer field in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights, escalated a recent cycle of violence and threatened to push the region to the brink of war. Iranian leaders have vowed to retaliate. On Saturday, Iran told Arab diplomats it didn’t care if the response triggered a war (Wall Street Journal).

United States Bolsters Defenses in the Middle East Region
Politico: The U.S. is shifting more troops and other military assets to the Middle East to defend Israel and American forces against what is expected to be a complex attack by Iran and its proxies, the Pentagon said Friday. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin ordered the USS Abraham Lincoln, which is currently operating in the Pacific, and its destroyer escorts to the region along with an additional squadron of fighter planes. Additional ballistic air defense units will also be deployed to the Middle East, not only to defend Israel but to protect U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria who have come under attack by Iran and its proxies, the Pentagon said. This is the second time since April that the U.S. has acted quickly to defend Israel after the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conducted targeted assassinations of Iranian officials and militant groups backed by Tehran. U.S. assets already in the region include ground and air forces as well as newly deployed destroyers, amphibious ships and an aircraft carrier to help repel attacks from Iran, Yemen or Lebanon (Politico). CNN: The Jerusalem municipality has issued instructions to people on what to do in the event of the city coming under attack. In a file, it said residents must be able to reach bomb shelters in 90 seconds. “Residents are advised to clean and prepare their bomb shelters in advance,” the file says (CNN).

Because there are no bronze medal fights, even if Khelif loses in the semifinals against Thailand’s Janjaem Suwannapheng (Fox News). Shoplifting Rose 24 Percent in 2024
Just the News: Shoplifting has soared in the U.S. in 2024, forcing many stores to leave cities and continuing a trend in recent years. Shoplifting has risen 24% in the first half of 2024 alone, according to newly released data from the Council on Criminal Justice. The White House cited the CCJ’s data to boast a drop in violent crime so far this year, but a closer look at the data showed that while violent crime has declined, shoplifting continues to rise. CCJ studied 23 U.S. cities. Shoplifting has become a major problem in cities around the country, with some store owners announcing they had to close up shop because of the increased theft. Shoplifting and looting during the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots helped spur on a new era of increased shoplifting (Just the News). CBS: Inflation has led to price surges at grocery stores, car dealerships and even dine-in restaurants nationwide. A new study finds it’s also the main motive behind another recent surge: shoplifting. More than 20% of Americans have admitted to stealing items from stores within the past year or so, according to a new survey from personal finance website LendingTree, which polled 2,000 U.S. consumers from ages 18 to 78. Of those who admitted to recent retail theft, roughly 90% of them said they did so because of inflation and the current economy. Specific reasons included, prices becoming otherwise unaffordable (34%), helping make ends meet (30%) and helping save a few bucks (27%) (CBS).

CNN Questions VP Kamala Harris’ Flip-Flops
Mediaite: CNN’s Dana Bash pressed Sen. Laphonza Butler (D-CA) about Vice President Kamala Harris “flip-flopping” on some key issues Sunday after the lawmaker said she had no concern it would turn off voters. On Sate of the Union, the host welcomed the senator aboard to discuss Harris’s upstart campaign and the state of the race. Bash noted Harris had drastically shifted her positions on issues from police funding to border security to fracking (Mediaite). RNC Research: CNN: Kamala supported Defund the Police, decriminalizing illegal border crossings, eliminating private insurance, and a fracking ban — now her campaign is trying to walk it back. Sen. Laphonza Butler: “She’s a human being!” (Kamala has NOT disavowed any it — only her campaign) (X).

CNN Asks Black Voters About Kamala Harris’ Race
Townhall: Donald Trump caused a stir at the National Association of Black Journalists conference in Chicago when he said he doesn’t know what ethnicity Kamala Harris is, noting that she portrayed herself as Indian but “became black” when her national profile was heightened. Everyone who isn’t a liberal knows what he was referencing, which is that the woman will say and embody anything to win an election; we don’t know the real Kamala. Yet, the media, lusting for an attack to deliver an election-killing blow, is trying to weaponize this soundbite. CNN tried to manufacture some attack material for Democrats by speaking to black voters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and they were not expecting this response…Is Kamala black? Well, some black voters don’t think so, which must trigger liberal white America to no end (Townhall). Brandon Tatum: CNN wasn’t expecting these black dudes at a Harrisburg Pennsylvania barbershop say Kamala ain’t black (X). Glenn Greenwald: Among the many hilarious parts of this CNN video is that, after the Black men explain their views on Kamala and race, the White Man of Authority calls them stupid, and says that’s not how the majority of black people think, which he knows because his black friends told him so (X).

Kamala Harris Has Not Held a Formal Press Conference Since Becoming Democrat Nominee for President
Fox News: Vice President Kamala Harris has gone 14 days without holding a formal press conference since becoming the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee as of Sunday. Harris announced that she had locked up the nomination late on July 22, declaring that she had won commitments of backing from a majority of the nearly 4,000 delegates to next month’s Democratic National Convention. She has since hit the campaign trail, spoken at various events, and even chatted with reporters here and there, but hasn’t done a formal press conference or wide-ranging interview in the 13 days that have followed. She also failed to appear at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago, where former President Trump made headlines on Wednesday with a heated question-and-answer session (Fox News). Riley Gaines: 13 days since Kamala became the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee & there’s been: no press conference. no interview. no tough/pressing questions answered. 0 pressure from the media to fix that. Donald Trump did an interview the day after he was SHOT IN THE HEAD (X).

Nancy Pelosi Suggests Biden Could Be Added to Mt. Rushmore for Stepping Down
Fox News: Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi mused Sunday morning that President Biden could be added to Mount Rushmore after choosing to step out of the 2024 race. CBS journalist Lesley Stahl asked Pelosi, D-Calif., about reports claiming she led efforts to remove Biden from the presidential ticket following his disastrous debate against former President Trump. Pelosi denied leading any charge to oust Biden and instead remarked how he was at “the top of his game” before making his decision to leave the race. She suggested the choice was worthy of Biden joining the presidents on Mount Rushmore (Fox News). RNC Research: Crazy Nancy’s delusions have reached a new level — saying Biden should be added to Mt. Rushmore (X).
