Nearly 30 million Americans have no healthcare coverage. 40 million people in the U.S. cannot afford the cost of the health coverage that they currently have. Let’s be honest, even if you’re “covered”, you’re really not. With $3.5 trillion per year/18% of the GDP going towards healthcare in this country, we should have the best healthcare in the world, but we don’t. We spend almost double what other major industrialized nations spend and our healthcare outcomes rank as some of the lowest in the world.

As a practicing Emergency Room Physician Assistant, I see the waste produced by our greedy, profit-driven healthcare system, influenced heavily by the health insurance and pharmaceutical companies, and the destruction that it causes to patients. We NEED a comprehensive single-payer, universal healthcare system that will improve our nation’s health while lowering costs long term. We NEED Medicare For All.

That is why I am a grassroots leader with Progressive MD, part of the People's Action Network; and why I founded the Maryland Progressive Healthcare Coalition.

There have been three historic House Committee hearings this year on Medicare For All. I sat in every single hearing and I can tell you that the facts are on OUR side. There is no disputing that we can cover every single American while saving money long term. We can provide healthcare as a human right, rather than as a privilege of whoever can afford it. Unfortunately, House Majority Leader and Maryland District 5 Congressman Steny Hoyer doesn’t support Medicare for All. Maybe it’s the $399K in healthcare sector PAC money that he took during the last campaign cycle? OR maybe it’s the $4.8 million that he has taken in campaign contributions from the healthcare sector over the course of his political career?

Join us in Maryland Congressional District 5 for a FREE Medicare For All Town Hall Event where we will educate the public and invite constituents to tell their healthcare stories. We have provided an open invitation to Congressman Hoyer so that he can explain to his constituents how he means to fix our broken system by providing them with the care that they deserve!

What: Medicare For All Town Hall Event in District 5
Where: Mt. Ennon Baptist Church, 9832 Piscataway Rd, Clinton, MD 20735
Date: Saturday, August 17th
