We need reform, and we need it now.

John, the Supreme Court has made some deeply troubling decisions lately — decisions that threaten our rights, our environment, and the very fabric of our democracy.

Here’s some good news: President Biden proposed several bold reforms to address these issues, including term limits for Supreme Court justices to end lifetime appointments and create a more predictable and fair nomination process and a binding code of conduct for justices, which would enforce ethical standards and hold justices accountable for their actions.

But we want to hear from you: Do you support reforming the Supreme Court?

We’re all aware of the majority’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, but few know about the Court’s decision to destroy the Chevron doctrine earlier this year, which served as a precedent for over 40 years of environmental protections.

The decision to strike down Chevron effectively stripped the EPA of its power to regulate based on science and expertise, giving unelected judges the final say on critical and complex environmental issues. Yes — justices like Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh.

The Supreme Court even granted presidential immunity from federal prosecution for any official actions during their tenure — giving a free pass to abuses of power and demolishing any shred of accountability.

And let’s not forget the scandals. 🙄 Reports of billionaires giving millions of dollars in unreported lavish gifts and luxury vacations to influence the Court’s decisions are making headlines. Clarence Thomas, we’re looking at you.

We’re at a tipping point. The Supreme Court is not just out of touch; it’s out of control. It’s time for serious reform to restore integrity and balance to our highest court.

While these reforms face an uphill battle in a divided Congress, they highlight the urgent need for change.

At the Jane Fonda Climate PAC, we know that the fight for a sustainable future is inseparable from the fight for a fair and accountable judiciary.

We need a Supreme Court that upholds justice and protects our planet — not one that panders to billionaires and corporate interests. And we need to know if you’re with us, John. Do you agree that it’s time to reform the Supreme Court?

Thanks for your response.
