Friend,
As I write to you, the situation in the Middle East is as grave as it has
been in months, perhaps years. Millions risk being caught in a dangerous
chain of events as Israel and its adversaries hurtle down a path toward
catastrophic regional conflict.
Between Israel, Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis, continued tensions
threaten to upend negotiations for a much-needed, much-delayed ceasefire
deal that would free the hostages, end the suffering in Gaza and pull the
region back from the brink.
Join us tomorrow for an emergency briefing featuring Middle East security
experts Barbara Slavin and Danny Citrinowicz, moderated by J Street
President Jeremy Ben-Ami. [ [link removed] ]Register here to join us tomorrow, August 5

With the US and international community urging restraint, Iran, Hezbollah
and the Houthis have vowed to respond to the assassination of Hamas
political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last week. It's a precarious
moment, with the risk of miscalculation and uncontrollable escalation
growing with every strike and counterstrike.
There has never been a more urgent time to press for a Gaza ceasefire
agreement, and tomorrow, our experts will help us understand how – and why
– world leaders should embrace de-escalation.
