Hi friend – it’s Janelle.
On the campaign trail, I get asked all the time why I’m running for Congress. It’s a fair question, so I wanted to reach out, personally, to explain exactly why I entered this race. If you don’t have time to read the rest of my note (that’s okay!), can I count on you to pitch in a few dollars to our grassroots campaign?
I’m running for Congress because, like many of you, I want my children to inherit a better world than the one I grew up in.
You see, my mom first encouraged me to run for office saying "If your generation doesn't stand up and fight, we stand to lose the progress my generation worked for." She was right, friend. It’s on us to ensure the next generation has access to quality education, affordable housing, and good-paying jobs.
I’m running for Congress because I believe all hardworking American families deserve the opportunity to get ahead.
I grew up in a working-class family. Both of my parents were teachers and there were times when it felt impossible to get ahead. I know a lot of families today can relate. Despite doing everything right, countless families across America just can’t seem to get ahead.
I’m running for Congress because it’s past time for our representatives to get to work and start putting people above politics.
Lori Chavez-DeRemer has turned her back on this community to support Donald Trump’s extremist agenda. We need leaders who will stand up to far-right extremists, and deliver meaningful change for families across Oregon.
I'm in this race because, with reproductive freedom and our democracy itself on the line, there’s just too much at stake to sit on the sidelines.
I know we can flip this seat and restore decency to Congress, but I can’t do this alone: Will you chip in $3, or whatever you can afford, to help us flip OR-05 and give our community real leadership in Congress?
Thank you!
Together we will flip OR-05!
Janelle
