John: GOP Leader Mike Johnson is the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. He was elected Speaker after promising to pursue his party's ideological priorities -- including impeaching cabinet secretaries and President Biden -- instead of focusing on compromise with the Senate, which is controlled by Democrats, to pass bills and move our country forward.

He has also come under fire, however, for moving forward with bipartisan, must-pass bills, like the federal budget.

Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.
