John, In 2021, working families in Delaware and across the country breathed a sigh of relief as the expanded Child Tax Credit under President Biden’s American Rescue Plan took effect. Thanks to this historic investment, families were able to put food on the table, pay their bills, buy clothes and school supplies, and so much more. Chris was proud to support this vital policy that put our kids, our families, and our future first. But this crucial support expired at the end of 2021, and since then, families have been struggling. Just this past week, the Senate had the chance to restore this lifeline. A vote was taken on expanding the Child Tax Credit once more. Shockingly, Senate Republicans tanked the bill. To add insult to injury, Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance didn’t even bother to show up and vote. This is pure hypocrisy. The same people who loudly proclaim their support for families are the ones who just blocked one of the most powerful means to actually help them get ahead we’ve ever seen. It’s unacceptable. Chris has always stood with working families and continues to fight for their wellbeing. He believes that elected leaders should back their words with actions. That's why he's committed to electing Democrats up and down the ballot who will support meaningful policies like the Child Tax Credit.
