Friends,
Indiana’s known for a lot of things – and as you know, it’s not just basketball. We’re a state with deep manufacturing roots, and a Hoosier hospitality that’s unrivaled anywhere in the world.
And we’re excited to share with you some late-breaking news after Governor Holcomb’s press conference today: Thanks to the generosity, ingenuity and hard work of our Hoosier manufacturers, we’ve seen commitments for PPE production double in just two weeks!
This increased supply of PPE is another critical step Indiana must take as we work toward reopening our economy…and today’s good news means that we’re well on our way.
The state has received commitments for 6.3 million pieces of PPE, including face masks, face shields, gloves, gowns, goggles and bottles of hand sanitizer. Almost half of that is being produced right here in Indiana!
And all of it is going straight to our healthcare heroes – hospitals, first responders, long-term care facilities and more.
More than 1.178 million pieces of this PPE have already been distributed to our frontline workers, with another 150,000 to 300,000 items expected to be received this week!
Governor Holcomb said it today:
"Your PPE, and my PPE, is the nurses, and the nurse aids, and the pharmacists, and the doctors, and the radiology assistants, the first responders. That's my PPE. And they need their PPE, so that we can continue down this path of progress."
Have a great weekend, and remember – we’re getting through this…together!
#INThisTogether,
P.S. An update from our email on Monday – today, Governor Holcomb officially signed the executive order allowing elective procedures to resume at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, as long as the provider has adapted policies and they have sufficient PPE. Check it out here!
