News from Representative Larson

Dear Friends,

No child should ever go hungry. In Connecticut alone, 1 in 6 children are food insecure. I was proud to support legislation creating Summer EBT (S-EBT) in Congress, a new federal assistance program to address the hunger too many of our children face during summer break when they don’t have access to breakfast or lunch at school. Benefits for Summer 2024 are now available for eligible families across Connecticut.

Each qualifying child will receive a one-time $120 benefit for Summer 2024. You can use your benefits to purchase groceries like meat, dairy, bread, grains, and fruits and vegetables. To learn more about eligibility for the program and enroll your children, visit the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) website or call 1-844-503-6871 for assistance.

In addition, any child under the age of 18 can visit Summer Meals sites across the state to receive no-cost meals like breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. To find a location near you, visit CTSummerMeals.org, call 211, or text SUMMER MEALS to 914-342-7744.

I will continue to support efforts to address child hunger and increase funding for programs like SNAP to ensure families have access to nutritious foods at affordable prices!
