It’s been a busy few months in our fight to protect the fragile Arctic: Last spring, the Biden-Harris administration halted oil and gas leasing across 10 million acres of the Western Arctic, and recently, they took a huge step toward maintaining important protections for 28 million acres of public lands across Alaska from oil drilling and mining.
But ConocoPhillips and other fossil fuel companies just see the Western Arctic as millions of acres of land for oil and gas drilling, and MAGA extremists in Congress are busy trying to pass legislation that would weaken or remove vital Arctic protections, including for the sensitive Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
Fortunately, right now, the Biden-Harris administration is acting to protect huge swaths of the Western Arctic from the oil industry’s unrelenting push to drill – and they’re accepting public comments on their plan.
Urge the Biden-Harris administration to protect the Western Arctic from fossil fuel companies by the September 16 deadline.
