Monday, July 29, 2024: After a Newsmax interview on Saturday morning where I discussed the past week’s events in Washington including the Palestinian protests during Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to a joint session of Congress, I head to Savannah where I spoke at the Georgia Medical Directors Association (GMDA) Conference. During my career as a pharmacist, I practiced as a consultant pharmacist in nursing homes as well as owned by own retail pharmacies. While working as a consultant pharmacist, I worked with many physicians who served as Medical Directors in the nursing homes. GMDA represents the professional interests of medical directors, facilities and associated professionals in Georgia’s nursing home industry.

I’m in Ellabell in Bryan County this morning as I join the Bryan County Chamber of Commerce and other elected officials in the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Pilot Travel Center near the intersection of Hwy 280 and I-16. Pilots’ purpose is to show people their business matters at every turn and we couldn’t be more exited to add them to our great business community in the first district. Afterwards, I head to the Bryan County Sheriff’s office where I meet with my good friend Sheriff Mark Crowe and his Chief Deputy David Ellis before heading to a meeting with outgoing Bryan County Commissioner Noah Covington. After twelve years of service on the commission, Commissioner Covington made the decision not to run for another term. We thank him for his service. Next, I head to my hometown of Port Wentworth in West Chatham County where I visit the fine people at Fleet Pride, the largest heavy duty aftermarket provider of parts and maintenance in the country. Located near the entrance of the Garden City terminal of the Georgia Ports, this Fleet Pride location is one of the busiest of their 330 locations. Afterwards, I head to our Savannah district office before heading to southside Savannah where I visit Chatham County Sheriff John Wilcher who is recovering from a recent health scare. My final visit in the Savannah area is with my good friend Ben Wall with Atlantic Waste as we discuss business issues and challenges. I have had a long history with Ben’s family including his grandparents who were long time customers of my pharmacy in Pooler.

Tuesday, July 30, 2024: I’m in our Brunswick district office this morning and join in on a virtual Budget Committee member roundtable focusing on the playbook for unleashing American energy. Our guests for the roundtable are former Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler and former Secretary of Interior Dave Barnhart. After a great discussion, I head to the Brunswick Exchange Club where I am honored to be their speaker this week and bring them up to date on news from Washington. After a meeting on St. Simons Island with our new Associate Pastor at my new church home, Wesley Church at Frederica, I head to Savannah and, during the drive, I have a phone call with Georgia State Senator Kay Kilpatrick, an orthopedic surgeon who is working on health legislation for next year. I also join in on our all staff conference call before having a phone interview with Georgia Health News to discuss my work to rein in Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM’s) in Congress. Once in Savannah, I head to the Georgia Association of Broadcasters (GAB) 90th Anniversary celebration where I am honored to welcome the group as well as present my good friends Butch Hubbard and Bob Morgan with the World Famous Butch and Bob Show in Jesup with a well-deserved career achievement award. As a lifelong resident of the Savannah area, this celebration was very special to me as the GAB also honored local legends like long time WTOC-TV anchor Doug Weathers and radio guru Jerry Rogers.

Wednesday, July 31, 2024: It’s always a pleasure to be in Alma in Bacon County and this morning I’m at City Hall where I meet with Alma Mayor Larry Taylor, Bacon County Commission Chairman Shane Taylor and Alma City Manager Al Crace. Afterwards, I head to a meeting with Appling County Sheriff Mark Melton, Bacon County Sheriff Andy Batten and Wayne County Sheriff Chuck Mosely and some of their personnel to discuss public safety issues in the area. After a great visit to the area, I head to Waycross in Ware County where I have a visit at Coastal Pines Technical College where President Lonnie Roberts and Executive VP Amanda Foreman lead me on a tour of the facility including the Timber Harvesting Operations, Welding and Joining Technology, Paramedicine and Surgical Technology classrooms. The college’s use of simulators and technology is most impressive as they truly are incorporating state-of-the-art technology into preparing the workforce of tomorrow.

Thursday, August 1, 2024: I’m live on Newsmax this morning as I discuss the Trump and Harris campaigns and news of the day and afterwards head to our Brunswick district office where I film this week’s edition of Buddy’s Briefing and Material Minute, along with a video congratulating the Coastal Regional Commission of Georgia on their 60th anniversary. While serving as the Mayor of Pooler in the late 1990’s, I served as chair of the commission that at that time was called the Regional Development Center. Afterwards, I head to Waycross in Ware County where I am honored to speak at the Waycross Family Justice Center Ribbon Cutting ceremony. Less than a year ago, I participated in the groundbreaking of this center that will serve six counties in the Waycross Judicial Circuit and provide survivor driven holistic services to foster ongoing community, dignity, trust and hope. Next, I head to the airport in Jacksonville and during the drive join in on our all staff conference call before having a phone conference with staff from the Energy and Commerce (E&C) Environment, Manufacturing and Critical Materials (ENV) Subcommittee staff to discuss oversight of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Fund.

Friday, August 2, 2024: I’m in New Orleans, Louisiana, this morning as I am participating in a House Natural Resources Committee field hearing on “Rigs to Restoration: Examining Gulf Coast Restoration through Energy Production and Permitting.” Before heading out to our first event, I have a virtual interview with WTOC-TV in Savannah to discuss the resolution I have introduced creating the National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day on August 21, 2024 to remember those lives lost to Fentanyl poisoning and increase awareness of the dangers of Fentanyl poisoning. Afterwards, I join my congressional colleagues here in New Orleans for a helicopter flyover of the Louisiana coastal area with the Louisiana Air National Guard (LANG) and United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) to see first hand the strategic role it plays in energy production and the rapid loss of landmass that they are experiencing. Next, we head to Nicholls State University where we hear from experts in the field and discuss the successful strategies and solutions to restore the State’s coast and protect its communities. Louisiana’s Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) is an example of how the state has successfully addressed balancing energy production and environmental protection and can serve as a great example of how federal policy should be formed.
