In a minute, I’m going to ask you — if you can — to make your first contribution to my reelection campaign. But first, I want to talk to you about why this election is so important.

As you know, Brooklyn is an epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States. Our community is experiencing a crisis like we’ve never seen before. And in moments of crisis, leadership can make a huge difference.

In Congress, I’ve led the charge in passing three relief bills that have culminated in hundreds of billions of dollars of relief for our state, city, hospitals, and residents. I’ve stopped the administration from getting corporate slush funds that could have directly benefited President Trump’s businesses. 

But my work has not ended there.

I have also co-sponsored countless bills related to the crisis including:

• The Cure the Coronavirus Act, aimed at incentivizing drug companies to develop a vaccine;
• The MEALS Act, which would give states more money to provide meals to students during school closures related to COVID-19;
• The Student Debt Emergency Relief Act, aimed at providing relief to student borrowers by canceling at least $30,000 in outstanding student loan debt per borrower;
• The Medical Supply Chain Emergency Act of 2020, which would force President Trump to utilize the Defense Production Act to procure emergency medical equipment to combat COVID-19, and;
• The Coronavirus Immigrant Families Protection Act, aimed at addressing the urgent needs of the immigrant community, including ensuring that COVID-19 related services are available to uninsured individuals regardless of their immigration status.

And, I’ve been in constant communication with community leaders and hospitals to ensure the federal government is doing everything it can to support their efforts during this crisis.

This is the kind of leadership that is on the ballot on June 23rd. 

Our community can’t rely on Donald Trump’s Washington to support them — now or in the future. Brooklyn needs a leader who knows how to work the system to deliver concrete results. And I hope to continue to be that leader for years to come.

But to do that requires your help. With everything going on, I haven’t had the time to fundraise, and we’re up against a critical end-of-month deadline.
