Dear Jack, we find ourselves living in a moment when anti-immigrant rhetoric and xenophobia are reaching an all-time high.
People seeking safety are in even greater danger because of hate-filled, anti-immigrant narratives that mischaracterize who they are and deny their dignity and rights.
We’ve been enraged by the extreme proposals from the Trump campaign and Project 2025 — including mass deportations, sweeping raids, detainment camps, and a revival of President Trump’s Muslim Ban — which The New York Times called “an assault on immigration on a scale unseen in modern American history.”
And we’ve been disappointed by the Biden administration’s choice to respond to perceived political pressure by implementing more restrictive policies for asylum seekers when they should be addressing the real challenges at our country’s southern border with leadership and solutions.
As a humanitarian organization that advocates for a world in which refugees find welcome, safety, and opportunity, HIAS will always advocate for those seeking safety — but we need you with us.
HIAS draws from Jewish values and history to provide vital services to refugees, asylum seekers, and other forcibly displaced people around the world and advocates for their fundamental rights so they can rebuild their lives.
Add your name to say you support HIAS’ mission to build a world in which refugees find welcome, safety, and opportunity.

As anti-immigrant rhetoric is being used to stoke political fervor in elections around the world, we must stay true to our Jewish values, and to insist that our country can have secure borders without putting the lives of asylum seekers at risk.
HIAS has never and will never back down. We need to show the nationalists that we have a strong community by our side.
Will you join us and sign onto the HIAS pledge today in support of HIAS’ mission to build a world in which refugees find welcome, safety, and opportunity?

Together, we draw upon deep wells of resilience to affirm Jewish joy and continue the important work we are doing on behalf of and in solidarity with forcibly displaced people in the world.
Thank you for your support,
Beth Oppenheim
