It was an exciting week in Arizona! I would like to encourage you to share this newsletter with others. Please direct them using this link and encourage them to subscribe.

Lesko in the News

It has been more than 2 weeks since the assassination attempt against President Trump and we’re left with a lot more questions than answers.

Why was the roof not secured?
Why was President Trump allowed to take the stage after the soon-to-be-assassin with a range-finder was spotted?
Why was the area not properly secured?

Hear more of my thoughts on this with Elizabeth MacDonald on the Evening Edit on Fox Business below:

Get the Facts: Arizona Olympians 2024!

You might see some familiar faces at this year’s Olympic Games. Ten Arizona natives qualified for Team USA in sports including women’s gymnastics, diving, cycling, track and field, and skateboarding. Some of Arizona’s professional teams’ athletes are competing as well. The Phoenix Mercury’s own Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner, and Kahleah Copper will all be in Paris as well as Phoenix Suns’ superstars Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Many athletes from Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University and other Arizona schools find themselves in this year’s Olympics as well with some expected to bring home the gold. We wish them luck as they continue to compete, and I am proud to have so many Arizonans holding their own for Team USA at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris!

Around the District

Ms. Erica Welch at Sahuaro Elementary School was able to receive books for her 1st grade classroom through the Congressional Surplus Book Program. This program allows teachers and other eligible organizations to receive much needed books from the Library of Congress at no cost to them. Team Lesko was happy to help Ms. Welch acquire her books before the 2024-2025 school year.

Team Lesko presented Scott Duke with a Congressional Recognition after he was recently inducted in the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame. Duke served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant/Master Air Traffic Controller. He now serves as President of Trilogy Veterans Group.

Casework Highlight

A constituent was having difficulty navigating their survivor’s benefits with the Office of Personnel Management. They contacted our office, and we were able to assist them in receiving those benefits.

Global Entry Process Renewal

If you already have Global Entry for traveling and have not yet renewed your membership, now may be the time. Eligibility to renew your membership begins one year prior to program expiration, but you will still be eligible to use benefits up to 24 months following your membership expiration date. In order to renew your membership visit the link here

Military Academy Nominations

As a member of Congress, I have the privilege of nominating a limited number of people to four of the five service academies. This would include nominating candidates for appointment to the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination for appointment. For more information click here.
