YIMBYs have finally taken to the big screen! Join us on Wednesday for a double feature of two intensely local films. “Block by Block” is an oral history of how Chinatown overcame local real estate and political interests to build a neighborhood City College campus. This early 2000s conflict set the stage for fights over waterfront height limits in San Francisco.
The second film, “Fault Lines”, is a new documentary about building housing in San Francisco. It has a couple cameos from some familiar YIMBY faces, but perhaps even more strikingly, it offers a surprisingly intimate view of housing opposition.
Both films bring home how incredibly important building political willpower in San Francisco to change the status quo is, and we really, really want to see you there. There will be Q&A with some of the activists from Block by Block as well as the director of Fault Lines.
We will meet afterwards to discuss and for a social!
