Hi team,
This week, the Senate voted to pass the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA). This is the first bill to significantly protect children online since the invention of the Internet.
It would require social media companies to take reasonable steps to prevent harms like bullying, drug addiction, and sexual exploitation. It would limit the use of design features, like endless scroll and autoplay. And it would set out new privacy requirements for our kids.
Our kids’ mental health is suffering, and addictive social media platforms are making it worse. KOSA is the first step in addressing this crisis.
I’m committed to protecting our kids online and tackling our youth mental health crisis in this country. I won’t stop until I see it done, but I could use your help.
KOSA has passed the Senate, but now we need the House to do the same. Join me in calling on Speaker Mike Johnson to bring KOSA to a vote, hold Big Tech accountable, and protect our children >>
