Help us demand that Congress pass an Essential Worker Bill of Rights. We must make sure protecting essential workers is a top priority in the next round of COVID-19 relief.

John,

When Jasmine took a job at Trader Joe's, she never thought she’d find herself at the frontlines of a pandemic.

Despite the fact that Jasmine is risking her life as an essential worker, she and her coworkers have had to fight for basic protections at work.

When Jasmine came down with symptoms like fever, body aches, a cough and difficulty breathing — her manager warned her not to talk to other co-workers about these symptoms. Jasmine took a week of unpaid time off to protect others.

Now, Jasmine is back to work because she says her family can’t afford to lose a paycheck. She’s more scared than ever of losing her life in this pandemic.

Understandably so — hundreds of essential workers have died so far from COVID-19 related complications. There is no doubt the death toll of essential workers will rapidly rise unless we take action now.

That’s why Women’s March is joining other leading organizations to demand Congress pass an Essential Worker Bill of Rights. Please sign our petition to make sure protecting essential workers is a top priority in the next round of COVID-19 relief.

We must provide essential workers with:

  1. Health and safety protections;

  2. Robust premium compensation;

  3. Protections for collective bargaining agreements;

  4. Truly universal paid sick leave and family and medical leave;

  5. Whistleblower protections;

  6. An end to worker misclassification;

  7. Health care security;

  8. Childcare support;

  9. Treat workers as experts; and

  10. Holds corporations accountable for meeting their employer responsibilities.

I Support the Essential Worker Bill of Rights »

Now, more than ever, essential workers are the backbone of our country.

They’re feeding our families, taking care of our sick loved ones, delivering medical supplies, running our public transit, preparing the medication we need, cleaning our hospitals, stocking our groceries, and making sure our communities continue to function.

They are disproportionately women — particularly women of color. Many are underpaid despite the deathly risks they are taking; some have even been fired after asking for basic protections. Our essential workers deserve better.

The Essential Worker Bill of Rights would help make sure these 48 million workers receive the compensation they deserve and the protections they need to do their jobs as safely as possible.

Join us in raising our voices to demand that Congress pass the Essential Worker Bill of Rights. Lives are on the line.

Together,
Women’s March
