Hey everyone,

I want to reach out today to update you on our work at the New York City Council responding to the coronavirus pandemic. But first, I want to also share some exciting news with you:

Together, this amazing community has raised nearly $30,000 for the Food Bank for New York City and the Met Council -- two incredible organizations working hard to support our city on the frontlines.

Let’s see if we can cross the $30,000 mark today. If you can, please consider making a contribution to support these two nonprofit organizations keeping New Yorkers fed and healthy >>

This week, the City Council conducted its first ever remote Stated Meeting, where we voted overwhelmingly to preserve and expand affordable housing and introduced a new coronavirus relief package. The 11-bill package extends time for COVID-impacted tenants to repay rent and pay back debts, and gives new protections from harassment for all renters, including small businesses. It also includes a New York City Essential Workers Bill of Rights to provide important protections for the workers on the frontlines keeping our city running.

We’re going to continue looking for new ways we can help both in the near term to keep people healthy and safe, and in the long term recovery from this crisis.

I am so inspired by all of the incredible stories of New Yorkers coming together across our city to help neighbors in need.

Thank you for being there for your family, your neighbors, and your city. I hope you are staying safe and healthy.

— Corey
