“I have been the best president for the Black population since Abraham Lincoln.”
At first I couldn’t believe those words came out of Donald Trump’s mouth. But on second thought, it wasn’t all that surprising, because he has a long history of outlandish, offensive lies.
During a panel at the National Association of Black Journalists convention this week, the former occupant of the White House did nothing but dissemble and make degrading comments about Vice President Kamala Harris and Black Americans.
He claimed to not know the Vice President was Black until “she happened to turn Black.” And he’s falsely questioning her race and heritage. Hmm, where have we seen that before?
He said people crossing the border are coming for “Black jobs.” Just what is a “Black job”?
He boasted that he loves “the Black population” and has “done so much for the Black population.” That’s the furthest from the truth.
And when asked why Black supporters should vote for him, should even trust him, he attacked the Black woman asking him the question: “I don't think I've ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner.”
He can’t even be bothered to pronounce “Kamala” correctly. Perhaps Madam President might be easier for him.
This is what we’re up against.

While this man was lying on stage, I was in Pittsburgh with my sister-in-service Summer Lee, campaigning for Vice President Harris and leading a rally to highlight her record on abortion justice and reproductive freedom.
You know what Trump had to say about abortion at NABJ? He repeated intentional disinformation about “late-term” abortions to his supporters.
So to recap: this man dismissed Vice President Harris’s race, her education, her leadership, lied through his teeth, and showed his true, ugly colors.
There’s so much at stake in this election — and this man is unfit to lead our country. We can, and must, do better. If you’re able, please make a donation of $25 or anything you can now to power our work on the campaign trail to elect Kamala Harris.
Yours in service,
