A Wisconsin Summer
It has been a great summer so far here in Wisconsin! Last weekend I stopped by the Rock and Racine County Fairs to join in on the events.
I also joined Fire Chief John Litchford at South Milwaukee Heritage Days. Thank you to everyone who stopped and said hello. It was a great weekend!
Ensuring Quality Care for Our Community
Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) are federally funded nonprofit health centers or clinics that provide primary care services to those in need.
Today, I requested Rock River Community Clinic (RRCC) be considered for a grant opportunity to become a FQHC. This will help RRCC sustain, expand, and advance needed primary health care access in the community.
For years, the RRCC has served as a critical access point for affordable, high quality health care in the greater Jefferson County area and parts of Walworth and Dodge Counties. According to the clinic, they provide medical, dental, and behavioral health services to over 23,000 low-income residents across 13 zip codes.
The clinic's patients range from dairy farmers, agricultural workers, factory workers, childcare providers, members of the food and service industry, construction workers, and trade workers. There is still work to do, but providing support to RRCC is an important step forward and I will continue to work to provide our community with the resources it needs.

Taking Power Out of the Hands of Unelected Bureaucrats
For too long, unelected Washington bureaucrats have been employed to make decisions that should be made by the people's elected officials.
Federal agencies have been able to construe statutes enacted by Congress years and even decades ago to impose overreaching regulations that impact Americans across the country.
Thankfully, a recent Supreme Court decision will ensure these previously empowered unelected bureaucrats can no longer make decisions that should be made by elected representatives.
Returning power to the people and their elected officials, the Supreme Court overturned a 1984 decision in a 6-3 ruling of Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo.
The original 1984 decision, Chevron U.S.A., Inc. v. Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc., coined "Chevron deference" allowed federal agencies to make their own interpretations of written law, resulting in unelected bureaucrats expanding their reach to impose burdensome regulations on American workers.
The Court's overturning of Chevron deference gives the people's elected officials the opportunity to right size many overbearing regulations that have stifled American businesses' growth and impacted hard-working American families.
Last week, I chaired a Committee on House Administration hearing titled "Congress in a Post-Chevron World" to ensure that Congress functions with transparency and accountability following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Chevron deference.

I also joined Just the News to discuss the opportunity the Supreme Court's decision has presented to return legislative power to the people's elected officials.
