National Review: Don’t Fall for Tim Walz’s Centrist Façade |
By Moses Bratrud, published in National Review
Here in Minnesota, we like to think we’re different. We like to think the North Star State is special. We even like to think our elected leaders are special, despite all evidence to the contrary. We continued to believe this after our last major party candidate, Walter Mondale, lost 49 states to Ronald Reagan in 1984. We even persist in this belief when our Governor and Vice Presidential contender, Tim Walz, joins a “White Dudes for Harris” zoom meeting to call former President Trump a “bastard” with cringe-inducing “pick-me” energy.
Why would Walz, who has no national profile, be a contender? Kamala Harris ran far to the left of Joe Biden in the 2020 Democratic primary, and there is every indication that she will do so again. She is expected to pick a moderate-leaning governor such as Andy Beshear (Kentucky), Josh Shapiro (Pennsylvania), or Minnesota’s own Tim Walz, in an attempt to reach swing voters.
But is Tim Walz a moderate? That claim has many here in Minnesota scratching their heads. As Minnesota’s pro-life and pro-family group dedicated to seeking change in the state capitol and at the ballot box, we at Minnesota Family Council have had a front-row seat as Tim Walz transformed himself, chameleon-like, from a folksy history teacher from southern Minnesota into one of the most progressive governors in the country. While elsewhere on NRO, Jim Geraghty has detailed the scandals that have plagued Walz’s time in office, Walz’s biggest progressive “accomplishments,” such as they are, should not be ignored.
The first is that Tim Walz has made Minnesota one of the most pro-abortion states in the nation. By advocating and signing the so-called Protect Reproductive Options Act in 2023, with the stroke of a pen Governor Walz made Minnesota one of the most permissive jurisdictions in the world, with abortion now legal until the moment of birth. |

Alpha News: Rochester Public Schools Threatened With Lawsuit Over District’s Transgender Policy |
Via Alpha News A pair of non-profit public interest law firms have threatened to sue Rochester Public Schools (RPS) if the district utilizes its new pro-transgender policy to “transition a child without parental consent.”
Just weeks ago, the RPS school board gave final authorization to a new policy governing how the district will “address the needs and concerns of transgender and/or gender-expansive students” in its schools. According to that policy, if a child changes their name, or begins using a different bathroom, the school district will only alert the child’s parents if the parent specifically asks about such information.
In short, the school district’s policy does not require RPS to immediately inform parents if their child is attempting to “transition.”
As such, the Upper Midwest Law Center (UMLC) and the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL), organizations that specialize in protecting constitutional rights, wrote to RPS denouncing the district’s transgender policy.
“The policy gives minor students in the District—with no age limit—the ‘right’ to change their names, pronouns, and bathroom use, all without parental consent. Indeed, the policy states explicitly that ‘parent/guardian consent is not required’ for students to socially transition to a different gender identity at school, nor will the District even notify parents,” wrote the two law firms.

National Review: Olympics Committee Defends Choice to Allow Woman to Fight Boxer Who Failed Sex-ID Test |
Via National Review
The Olympics is defending its choice to allow Italian female boxer Angela Carini to fight Algerian opponent Imane Khelif, a fighter who was previously disqualified from women’s boxing after a sex-identification test. “Every person has the right to practise sport without discrimination,” the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit said in a statement. “All athletes participating in the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 comply with the competition’s eligibility and entry regulations, as well as all applicable medical regulations set by the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit,” the statement adds.
The Olympics said it measures the age and gender of athletes based on their passport in addition to the Paris 2024 boxing regulations. The Paris 2024 medical guidelines for the Olympics do not appear to include an examination to determine whether competitors fighting in the women’s competition possess unfair biological advantages.
