SUBMIT YOUR INTENTIONS: PONTIFICAL MASS

Dear Friend, 

This Saturday, August 5, Raymond Cardinal Burke will celebrate a very special Pontifical Mass, in the Usus Antiquior, at 11:00 AM Central Time from the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Why is this so special? It is the special Feast Day of the Dedication of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major – Our Lady of the Snows. In 2011 Pope Benedict the XVI affiliated the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe with the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore (Saint Mary Major) in Rome. On August 5, pilgrims have the occasion to gain a Plenary Indulgence. 

All are welcome to assist at the Holy Mass, either in person or to view on your computer or smartphone via the livestream link.

Did you know that this feast commemorates the miracle of the snowfall on the site where the Basilica of Saint Mary Major now stands?  It happened in the year 358, during the night of August 4-5. The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in a dream to two faithful people, as well as to Pope Liberius asking that a church be built in her honor on the site where snow would fall on the night of August 4-5. Pope Liberius traced the outlines of the church in the snow and the basilica was built on that site.

Eastern Time: 12:00 PM

Central Time: 11:00 AM

Mountain Time: 10:00 AM

West Coast Time: 9:00 AM
