Care Fact Friday

Welcome to our inaugural Care Fact Friday, our new series that highlights critical facts about the care industry. Our goal: to raise awareness and inspire action for better conditions and support for care workers as well as improve access to care for families.

This week, we shine a spotlight on a staggering truth: almost 1 in 6 home care workers live in poverty, earning an average hourly wage of just $14*. These dedicated professionals, who do the essential work of caring for our loved ones, often struggle to earn a living wage and support their own families.

This is unacceptable. Home care workers are the backbone of our healthcare system, yet they are undervalued and underpaid, leading to high turnover rates and a lack of quality care for families in need. To solve this care crisis, we urgently need investments in our care economy.

How You Can Help:

Take Action: Pledge to become a Care Champion and support policies that uplift and protect home care workers. Your voice can make a difference.

Spread Awareness: Share this fact with your network to highlight the critical issues facing home care workers.

Donate: Consider making a donation to support our work. Your contribution helps us continue fighting for the rights and well-being of care workers across the nation.

Follow the Care Can’t Wait Bus Tour, starting this month: This nationwide tour will bring attention to the critical issues facing home care workers and rally support for our cause. Join us at a stop near you to show your support, learn more, and take action.

Thanks for being a Care Champion,

Dignity, Unity, Power

The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.

Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
