John, our democracy is on the line.
President Biden’s proposal to add term limits to the Supreme Court is a step in the right direction. However, light reform with a code of ethics and term limits
is too little too late when the majority of the United States Supreme Court is corrupt to its core.
We need drastic, immediate, and lasting change for such a critical branch of power.
We’re not going to let this illegitimate court continue to erode our rights.
The only way forward is to expand the court.

The Supreme Court has proven time and time again that they cannot be trusted and their
interests don’t align with Black, brown, and queer minorities.
With the conservative majority in the illegitimate Supreme Court, the far-right, white supremacists, and Christian nationalists have chipped away at our rights.
Black people are already vulnerable to systems woven from white supremacy — as we’ve seen in the climate crisis, healthcare system, abortion care, housing, and just about everything else.
This lack of accountability, checks, and balances within the executive branch is EXACTLY what white supremacists like Trump and other officials alike want.
The illegitimate court has already:
- Stripped away reproductive justice, autonomy, and self-determination – self-determination is a key pillar of Black power.
- Dismantled the right to exist by criminalizing homelessness – which disproportionately affects the Black community. This allows the police to arrest Black individuals at an even higher rate than before and force them into the modern slavery of the prison system.

Granted the president of the United States unquestionable power with innate immunity once elected. This kind of unchecked power does not bode well for vulnerable communities that can be easily scapegoated.
- Shamelessly made bribery legal and in doing so protected themselves from the massive amount of money they accepted from outside parties. This allows corrupt and racist organizations free reign to continue disenfranchising black communities and stealing government resources that should have gone to benefit our communities and education system.
Our fight has been made impossible,
so as long as the court remains unchanged, we cannot make real, lasting change
. The court can continue to
reverse any and all of the progress we’re fighting for while twisting the law to protect far-right, corrupt officials like Trump.
We are infuriated. We are in pain. And there’s only one way to stop it.
We must expand the court and impeach illegitimate and racist justices. These are the necessary steps to protect and affirm Black people’s right to thrive.
The court system is broken and in a corruption crisis. We’ve said it many times before and we will continue to speak out and fight until it happens – the Supreme Court must be expanded.
