Oklahoma,

Congress just completed our final week of session in Washington before the August work period begins. I cannot wait to be back in Oklahoma and travel the state over the next four weeks to visit with many of you. Before we do that though, let's recap this week. If this email was forwarded to you, you can subscribe to my weekly e-newsletter here.

I joined my Senate GOP colleagues for a press conference to discuss the U.S. Secret Service and FBI’s failures that led to the attempted assassination of President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. There are several questions that must be answered in order for the Secret Service to regain the trust of the American people and ensure this will never happen again. Senate Republicans will not rest until we have answers. Watch here

Great news! Two of my bills passed the U.S. Senate this week and one bill passed out of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee. The first bill to pass the Senate this week was a bill I authored with Sen. Klobuchar to make the bald eagle the national bird of the United States. The bald eagle is a strong symbol of patriotism for our nation, and it’s time past time we make this designation official.

The second bill was the Kids Online Safety Act. I firmly believe that children's privacy and mental health should always be protected, especially online. This bill safeguards children and families against threats to children's well-being online and holds Big Tech accountable, requiring online platforms to put the interests of families first and provide an environment that is safe by default.

Finally, a bill that is very personal to me, the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Program Reauthorization Act, passed out of the HELP Committee and now awaits a vote on the Senate floor.

In 2020, my family’s life changed in an instant when our son, Jim, who was 15 at the time, suffered a TBI while wrestling. While we are on the other side of recovery thanks to the experts at the Center for Neuro Skills in Bakersfield, California, and the grace of God, not all patients who suffer TBIs are so lucky. The TBI Program Reauthorization Act will ensure the millions of Americans who suffer traumatic brain injuries and those suffering from long-term disabilities because of the injury have the support and resources necessary to navigate recovery. It was great to welcome America Legion students to my office in Washington, DC. The American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation and the American Legion Boys Nation are programs for rising high school seniors that focus on government and citizenship education. I was impressed with the passion and dedication of these Oklahoma students and hope their visit to our nation’s capital only furthered their interest in government.

Thank you to Major General Thomas Mancino for taking the time to meet with me. MG Mancino faithfully serves as the Adjutant General for Oklahoma, commanding the Oklahoma Army and Air National Guard. It was great to hear an update from him.

I recently met with Tulsa Job Corps Center Director Adrienne Pope and the National Job Corps Director Jill Zimmer who made the trip to Washington to celebrate the National Job Corps' 60th anniversary. We discussed the great work they are doing on behalf of Tulsa’s youth and the supportive community Job Corps has cultivated on their campus for students pursuing job training and career guidance.

I joined Leland Vittert on NewsNation this week to discuss Hezbollah's horrendous attack on an Israeli soccer field which killed 12 children. Watch here.

Under VP Kamala Harris, Democrats are the party of high prices and open borders. Now, San Francisco liberal Kamala Harris is trying to run from her radically progressive policies. We unpacked her record. Check out my Weekly Wrap Up here.

Thanks for reading my weekly e-newsletter! It’s an honor to represent the great state of Oklahoma in the U.S. Senate. You can stay in touch by following me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Gettr, Truth Social, and YouTube. As always, don’t hesitate to contact my office if we can help in any way.

God Bless!
