TOMORROW: Join Sen. Warren, Speaker Pelosi, and front line workers to demand healthcare, PPE, and wage and job security for ALL. RSVP>>
John,
We have always been essential.
Hospital floors never sanitized themselves. Grocery shelves never got magically stocked. Burgers didn't appear out of thin air. It was always people like you and me who kept our communities running while getting paid poverty wages.
This crisis now makes it impossible to ignore us. Things MUST change.
Join me and other front line workers, along with Senator Elizabeth Warren and Speaker Nancy Pelosi for a tele-town hall this Saturday, April 25 at 1pm ET/10am PT to demand healthcare, PPE, and job security for ALL working families across the country.
I'm risking my life to put food on the table for my family. There's no “work from home” for me. Every time I get on the bus, give a customer change, or wipe down a table, I'm terrified of what I can't see.
While the Trump Administration focuses on bailing out the banks and cruise executives, not only don't I have safety gear, I still don't have paid sick leave that would let me stay home if I get coronavirus.
It's OUR communities on the front lines of this crisis. Black and Brown workers are disproportionately impacted by this crisis. In Michigan alone, Black people are 14% of the population but 40% of COVID-19 deaths.
That's our parents, our grandparents, our friends, and our coworkers in danger. We are NOT disposable.
Join me Saturday to demand that any relief MUST prioritize our health, safety, and financial support before another nickel goes to corporate bailouts.
In solidarity,
Bridget Hughes
