Team,

As we settle into our new normal, I’ve been taking stock of what’s really important right now. I’ve been thinking a lot about the things I need to do—that we need to do—to help ourselves and each other get through this difficult time.

I, like many of you, have spent a lot of time checking in on loved ones. I’ve helped my parents order masks and groceries online. I’ve worked with our team to set up a remote work environment for the foreseeable future. I’ve bought new at-home exercise equipment and am setting aside time to read new books and do things I normally didn’t have time for before.

I am grateful for the ability to stay home and help flatten the curve when many people in our country cannot. This crisis has laid bare our fraying social safety net and exposed even more starkly the racial and economic inequality that exists. We’ve got a lot of work to do to rebuild, not just now but for months and years to come.

One thing that’s kept me and my team going is our work to elect principled leaders across our nation who I know can do that hard work of rebuilding.

John, the way this pandemic has played out here at home wasn’t inevitable. Just yesterday—in one day—more Americans died from COVID-19 than died in the terrorist attacks of 9/11. We’ve had four other days like that already this month. President Trump, his administration, and his Republican allies in Congress have failed the American people by gutting our pandemic preparedness, downplaying the severity of the virus, and refusing to use the power of the federal government to increase testing and equipment production.

This is clear: We need new leaders. Leaders who will fight COVID-19 and its aftermath long after the November elections. Part of our “new normal” is the sobering realization that this crisis is not going to be over in a month or two.

We have an opportunity right now to do some incredible work together—to elect some incredible public servants—who will restore our economy and our healthcare system.

I’m asking you today to help us further our mission at Serve America by making a donation towards our April end-of-month fundraising goal. Can you contribute $5, $10, or whatever is meaningful to you right now?

I’m asking you to help us pick those leaders who will get America back on track.

Thank you,

Marie

P.S. If you can’t afford to donate right now, that’s okay. Too many people are facing financial hardship right now, and taking care of yourself and your loved ones must come first. Thank you for being a part of our family, and let us know if there’s anything we can do to help.
