Dear Friend,
As we observe Black August, we reflect on the resilience and sacrifice of those who have fought tirelessly for justice and equality. This month serves as a tribute to the courage and determination of Black freedom fighters and political prisoners who have challenged systemic oppression throughout history.
At Progressive Maryland, we are dedicated to continuing this legacy of resistance and advocacy. Our work focuses on dismantling the structures that perpetuate injustice and creating pathways to true equity for Black and Indigenous communities in Maryland. From forming the Maryland Coalition for Justice and Police Accountability (MCJPA) after Freddie Gray's tragic death, to addressing toxic air quality in South Baltimore, and organizing Black workers in Prince George's County through the 7/10 Black Workers Center, we have achieved significant legislative victories, fought to improve air quality, and created pathways to equip formerly incarcerated Black workers with skills for high-wage union jobs.
This Black August, we call on you to support our ongoing efforts to achieve justice and equality in Maryland. Your contributions are vital in helping us continue our work and amplify the voices of those who have been marginalized and oppressed.
Will you make a donation today to support our mission? Your direct contribution allows us to secure wins in healthcare, housing, environmental justice and more for our communities.
