Santa Fe Dreamers Project is excited to share that we are starting to receive work authorization documents for a number of our survivor clients who have applied for the U Visa, some of whom have been waiting close to 5 years to receive work authorization. While their U visas will continue to take many years, receiving work authorization is an exciting step in our clients cases and ensures that they will be able to support themselves and their families as they continue to navigate the immigration process.
We are also excited to share that we have a number of clients eager to apply for the Biden Administration’s Family Parole-in-Place! This program will continue to ensure family unity for some spouses of US citizens who have not yet been able to obtain immigration status. SFDP began screening for this benefit shortly after it was announced, and is preparing to begin filing these cases as soon as the applications open on 8/19.
