Hunting regulations available

August is here and along with summer fishing and other outdoor exploring, we have an eye on fall.

Today the Minnesota Hunting and Trapping Regulations, and Minnesota Waterfowl Hunting Regulations, are available online.

Whether you’re chasing grouse, getting into the marsh or preparing for deer season — or all of the above and more — make sure to check out the “What’s New” sections in the regulations for important updates.

For example, early teal season and the September goose season will begin on Sunday, Sept. 1, which is the earliest seasons can open according to federal frameworks.

One way to access all the hunting regulations and season information on the Minnesota DNR website is through the hunting and trapping webpage [ [link removed] ].

On the hunting and trapping page, you will find links to season information portals for bear, deer, elk, grouse, mourning dove, pheasant, prairie chicken, small game, trapping, waterfowl and wild turkey.

The webpage also has a bevy of links to other information including our learn to hunt webpages, where you can get how-to guides about hunting a wide range of wildlife species in Minnesota.

Electronic copies of all 2024 Minnesota hunting regulations are available now online and printed copies will be available by mid-August wherever licenses are sold [ [link removed] ]. Regulations translated into Hmong, Karen, Somali and Spanish will be available later this fall.

Wildlife watchers, send us your photos

We continue to be wowed by so many of the photos showing up in our photo uploader!

Minnesotans love to watch wildlife and experience the habitat that allows wildlife populations to thrive. Many folks find these experiences meaningful without hunting or taking wildlife photos. For those who do, you know these wildlife photos get us fired up to get out into Minnesota’s wild places, or even step out the door and see what wildlife might be in our backyard. If you have images to share, consider uploading them using the DNR photo uploader [ [link removed] ]. We regularly pull photos from the uploader for newsletters, webpages, social media and other communications.

We also have a Minnesota Fish & Wildlife Facebook page [ [link removed] ]! You don’t want to miss it — check out the latest posts on American Kestrels, black bears, and how to report [ [link removed] ] pheasant and turkey sightings.
