John, Black Lives Matter is a non-partisan, non-profit organization focused on Black liberation. Sometimes, we have to call folks in. Other times, we have to call folks out—regardless of their position, party, or background.
And we just HAVE say this… Trump continues showing us just who he is. If allowed to speak, he’s going to spew racist, vile, divisive comments about anyone and everyone he deems is in his way.
This time, his racist comments were aimed at Vice President Kamala Harris.
Yesterday, at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) annual convention in Chicago, Trump questioned VP Harris' Blackness (
yep, you’re reading that right, Trump is questioning the Vice President’s Blackness…) saying:
“I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?”
This is a pattern for Trump. Against a person of color, he will use their background and identity in an attempt to other and alienate them. He tried this with former President Barack Obama, falsely claiming that he wasn’t born in the United States.
We call out racism against anyone, no matter who they are, as wrong. Can you join us? Add your name now to denounce Trump’s racist comments about Vice President Kamala Harris.
Making comments like this about a candidate’s background is never okay. That’s why we need all of us to fight back against his hate and vitriol.
Add your name today to denounce Trump’s comments on VP Harris. We’re not going to let him continue to get away with his hate speech.
