John,

Today marks GLSEN’s 25th Annual Day of Silence—a national student-led day of action against the silencing and erasure of LGBTQ people. This is just one of the many student-led initiatives that GLSEN has adapted to virtual platforms to ensure we continue to be a powerful partner for the students, educators, and school community members who are advocating for LGBTQ youth during this time of social distancing and disruption.

This year the GLSEN Day of Silence will bring together tens of thousands of students to make history: as one of the largest ever online events for LGBTQ visibility, today is a truly groundbreaking moment.

LGBTQ youth remind us that, even as we stay diligent and mindful in spatial distancing, we can continue to socially connect with each other online and through powerful actions of solidarity and community.

John, can we count on you to take action too? Commit now to supporting the GLSEN Day of Silence? [[link removed]]

Nearly 8 in 10 LGBTQ students experience verbal harassment because of their sexual orientation, and more than half are harassed because of their gender identity or expression. As a GLSEN supporter, you understand the silencing effect this widespread bullying and name-calling has on LGBTQ youth.

John, we thank you for being a steadfast friend to and advocate for LGBTQ youth. If you are able at this time, please support GLSEN’s increasingly urgent work with a special contribution today. [[link removed]]

This is our chance to show that even with physical distance, the movement for dignity and safety for LGBTQ students is stronger than ever—and that when faced with challenges, we will never stop building community and supporting each other.

Help make GLSEN’s 2020 Day of Silence a (virtual) day to remember!

PS: We’re excited to announce that advocate and March for Our Lives founder Emma Gonzalez—who was the president of her GSA at Stoneman Douglas HS in Parkland, FL—will be joining us today. Seeing our community come together in challenging circumstances to adapt this annual day of action into a new, virtual format is inspiring.
